Why you must differentiate yourself from the competition to succeed. Before I explain how to stand out from the crowd of people marketing their products and services online today I need to show you the reason for doing it. Internet marketing industry is changing overnight. This is largely due to the fact that this awesome thing we call "technology" is drastically changing the playing field. In the past, you first prospected your warm market, and then moved out into the abyss of the "cold market." Cold market prospecting usually meant going out and talking to everybody you encountered pitching your opportunity to them. The objective was to get them in front of a sales presentation to determine if they were even interested in the opportunity.

There were several problems with this method. You had to go through tons of people just to find one that wanted to join. The good thing about this industry is that you can make huge profits even with just a few people in your down line. Well now you still need to talk to your warm market first. After that instead of physically going out and chasing people all over hell and creation you simply need to get on your computer. The marketing strategy most like the old-school method of cold market prospecting is talking to people using Facebook as a medium.

Here’s the problem with doing that. Every other newbie to Internet marketing is doing the exact same thing. There are tons of Internet marketing groups on facebook, and 98% of the members are marketers trying to recruit or train other marketers. There is a lot of "noise" on the new playing field called the Internet. That is why you absolutely MUST differentiate yourself from the competition to get your message heard in the sea of other online marketers on the Internet.

How do your differentiate yourself from the competition then?

Branding Your Online BusinessYou must brand yourself on the Internet. You have to do some soul-searching and figure out what makes YOU unique and special as an individual. What do you bring to the table that no one else does? It could be anything. Look to your past experiences in life. Did you play sports? Did you have a musical talent? Have you read a lot of books on leadership? Even if you are a young buck fresh out of high school you have something unique to offer.

Once you know your brand promote it online. You can write articles on your area of expertise and share them with others via facebook or a blog. Create educational videos. The absolute best way to get followers is by creating a highly valuable piece of content and giving it away for free. This could be a leadership ebook, video training course on how to build a blog, etc.
