How To Write An eBook That You Can Sell To The Hoards: Step 5-Putting It All Together and Getting It Done!

How To Write An Ebook That You Can Sell

With your preparation and planning done you are now ready to start writing your eBook. In fact if you have done your research correctly your project of quickly creating a high quality eBook is nearly done!

However there is one final thing you need to make the job easy and that is the structure of your book and your writing. The right structure will help you present your ideas in a way that your reader can absorb the information easily and provides a framework of the book. Just like building a home, the plans, drawings, list of products used etc are all planned out before the start and makes for a smooth build.

Now’s the time to start a list of chapter titles and then go deeper into each chapter, outlining exactly what information you are going to put there. For each idea place that in the relevant chapter thereby creating subsections or paragraphs. Then when you come to the actual writing, it’s just a case of filling in the details.

The structure that I will outline for you below will not only help you create your eBook quickly it is also extremely powerful in helping you to organize your material into a format that is of greatest benefit to the reader. It will help you organize your information in a logical and easy to follow format.

Create the eBook Outline

The Desired Outcome

Here you want to show the reader the biggest benefit of your eBook. It will start your eBook on a positive, uplifting note and encourage the reader to continue.

The Problem and Solution

  • Define the problem of the reader when they try to achieve the desired outcome. What gets in their way to achieving the desired outcome?
  • Define your solution. How and why is your different to any others the reader may have already tried? You could use ‘Imagine being able to….’
  • Explain how you came up with your solution. You could use‘I’ve been where you are right now…’ Include a story of your own personal journey that led to your discovery of the information you are sharing and build a picture of the pain and torment you went through.
  • Describe what you did to find the answer and how you finally found it
  • What are some things that are generally believed to be true about this particular problem that you can show are not correct. This builds credibility and rapport with the reader. You could use ‘The hidden truth behind…’
  • Allay fears that the reader might think are true. You could use ‘You may have experienced…’
  • Introduce your solution. You could use ‘Your secret weapon for…’
  • Give the steps to the solution could use. ‘You will instantly know how to…’ This is where you go through each step or action in detail. This will make up at least 70% of your eBook.
  • Conclude by reminding the reader of the desired outcome.
  • Call To Action: Your reader could be feeling overwhelmed and not sure of where to start. You could use ‘The very thing to do now is…’ Then tell them.

The next step is to add a Copyright Notice, Disclaimer, Acknowledgements, Preface and Table of Contents. The Preface material is a brief introduction to your book that includes the core message and why you have written it.

Now you need a cover that sells. Let’s face it. We all judge a book by the cover. Your eBook will be no exception. Images set the tone for what your book is about and will be the first thing to grab your potential buyers’ attention. I create my own images and have also outsourced design work to fiverr.com. Here you can get good quality design work done for a fiver. Shop around all the designers there and review their work before you take someone on. Ask the designer to create a 2D ecover not a 3D ecover. They don’t work that well on Amazon and put the reader off.

Last but not least, have a blurb and photo about yourself as the author. Why you wrote the book and who it’s for.

Once you have got the steps working for you, you can use it over and over again to create as many eBooks as you like. Your first book may not be perfect or even great, but it will be a start. You get good at something by doing it.  When your eBook is complete you will have a feeling of satisfaction knowing that you have actually written an eBook that you can be proud of. So start right NOW!
