Should You Publish Your Book Using Amazon’s Kindle is a Big Question.

Self-Publishing on KindleAs of now thousands of digital books, commonly called ebooks, are being published through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing system every day and the numbers are growing at a staggering rate. Many of these ebooks are not written by the author themselves but rather are rehashed work and badly rehashed at that. In other words ‘Kindle Spam’. There are also instances where books have been copied, given a new cover and author’s name and put on Kindle as their own book. That’s not good, in fact it stinks. Many of these books should not have seen the sun shine.

The more these types of books are put on Amazon’s Kindle the more they devalue the work of authentic authors. Author’s who have a message of value, can improve the reader’s mind and knowledge and most of all their written words have come from their heart. Isn’t that what writing is all about from the heart, to tell a story and to impart real knowledge and expertise?

Over last the two months, I have come across at least four ‘system’s that tell you and show you how to publish your ebook on Kindle. These systems are great as far as how to format your book and how to actually publish it. What I don’t like is what they have said about the content. They have advocated that you use private label rights, PLR, material. That is where you buy some work that someone else has written and you have the rights to change it. Most of this type of material is rubbish. It doesn’t flow, it doesn’t give enough information that the reader would benefit from. It doesn’t come from the heart!

Because of all these spam ebooks Amazon Kindle will no doubt look at this as it could put their own reputation as a self-publishing giant into question. They do have a few guidelines regarding content, illegal items and stolen goods etc. They will have to find a way to achieve better control over the quality that is published on their platform.

Should you self-publish your book on Amazon’s Kindle? Yes you should. I say that with a caveat… ‘Publish your book using your words.’

As an authentic author who wants to protect their name and business, the only sensible thing to do is to keep writing and publishing your own words, not those of others.
