What Is Your Passion? Find Your Niche and Focus On It

While it’s true that a niche market is only a small segment of a much larger market, finding the right one that few people are catering to could prove to be a very profitable move. And, in the world of niche marketing, the possibilities are endless when it comes to finding a niche that’s right for you.

I’ll be sharing with you some tips to help you find a niche you’ll love. After all, if you have an interest in what you do it is much easier to stay focused and continue to promote and profit from it for years to come.

Niche Brainstorming
It’s Time To Brainstorm!

The first step in finding your perfect niche is to sit down somewhere where it’s quiet and you can think, and just brainstorm. With a piece of paper in hand, or notepad on your computer, start writing down everything you love to do – things you’re passionate about. To get the wheels spinning, here are some ideas that may hit home or spark an idea of your own.
• Bowling
• Fishing
• Golfing
• Cooking
• Parenting
• Reading

As you can probably see, there are endless possibilities for subjects to write about and market. So from this list, let’s think about how we can find a niche that’s right for you.

Continuing with the brainstorming, I’m going to choose golf as my passion. This is just an example, but it will show you how to break down your passion into a niche that’s ideal for you.

Sub-Niche for Greater Results

Golf is obviously a very broad topic, so instead of focusing on the entire market – let’s do some drilling down to some smaller segments, or niches, of this hugely popular subject. Here are some possible smaller niches that fall within the golf niche:
•    golf equipment
•    golf lessons
•    golf attire
•    golf accessories
•    golf clubs
•    improve my golf swing
•    golfing lessons
•    discount golf stores
•    golf books
•    golf tournaments
•    best golf courses
•    rules of golf
•    golf gifts
•    junior golf

This list is only a very tiny one. There are literally thousands of sub-niches I could go into when it comes to the topic of golf, or almost any other niche for that matter. As you can see below the topic of golf can be broken down even further.

Now from the list of smaller niches, the next step to finding your perfect niche is to think about which one appeals to you more than all the others, or which one you have the most knowledge about. Since niche marketing is a very focused type of marketing, you definitely need a passion for what you’re doing, and having lots of knowledge about it is a definite plus, though not necessary. With enough research, the knowledge will come.

The passion and knowledge about your niche will keep you going when you find yourself unmotivated or wanting to throw in the towel. Trust me, there will be times when you’re tempted to just give up no matter what topic you’re working with.

Once You’ve Found Your Perfect Fit: You have hit the centre of your target market.

After you determine which niche is perfect for you, think about how you’ll market your niche for the most effective results.

Let’s use ‘Improve My Golf Swing: Callaway Graphite Iron’ as an example. Where are some good places to find people who are interested in improving their golf swing? Determine where these people are and then you can begin advertising your product or service on those types of websites, stores, forums, etc.
