How To Market Your Book and What You Need

In Parts 1, 2 and 3, we looked at the many ways and benefits of writing, publishing and marketing your book

In Part 4 we will look at marketing your book and what you need

Writing and publishing your book are two easy steps, whereas marketing is a step that can confuse and frustrate an author. Let’s look at some methods of marketing your book.

A dedicated website for your book is the first method. Keep the site simple and have the following. This
1.    The domain name would be the name of the book. Some add the work ‘book’ to the domain name.
2.    Have three pages on your website – Home, About The Author and Blog
3.    Have an image of your physical book and link it to Amazon
4.    Have an image of your electronic book and link it to Kindle
5.    Have an image of your PDF version so that your visitors can purchasers can buy direct from you
6.    Give away a free chapter to collect visitors’ names and email addresses
7.    Have an About The Author page
8.    Write and post articles to your blog
9.    Have Folowme links to your social media pages

Social Media marketing – social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Youtube etc are essential marketing tools that authors should and utilize. At first social media sites were thought to be a fad but now it is the norm that if you do not have a Facebook and Twitter page you are not going where your market is and more importantly you are leaving money on the table.

When you write and post an article on your blog you can post it to Facebook at the same time. Send a tweet, or little message, to your Twitter page. Create a video and upload it to Youtube, put your links to your book’s website, Facebook and Twitter.

Article directory submission to sites like Ezinearticles is a valuable tool to use as well. By posting your original articles there you are also spreading the word about you and your book.
